'Get a job, get a life'

Bal: My mum's been nagging me to think about careers. And she says with equal opportunities things should be easier for me than they were for her.

Dani: Yeah, I reckon.

Bal: But I'm not sure about this affirmative action. If loads of black or Asian people get jobs they can't really do, they'll screw them up won't they? Then everyone will say 'We knew it. These people are no good.'

Dani: Who says black and Asian people would screw up? My uncle says affirmative action has made a big difference in America. These big companies that have no black or Asian staff should do something....

Balvinder: But how do you that without being prejudiced the other way?

Dani: Well...I dunno, but it's better than doing nothing and having loads of people like us think that we're being unfairly treated.

Bal: And I don't like the way some places ask you to say what colour you are on their forms. I mean, they could just turn you down then couldn't they?

David: And I'm white, but am I supposed to put down that I'm Jewish?

Dani: Are you? God, I never knew that...

Bal: Danielle! Where have you been?

David: Meanwhile, back in Gotham City... ]B-) ...people are saying what colour they are on forms....

Dani: Well I think it's so they check on who's discriminating. If you don't know how many people from different backgrounds have applied for a job, you can't tell if they've all been turned down, can you? It doesn't bother me.
